Beijing Massage Hospital, founded in 1958, is the birthplace of modern blind medical massage in China. As the first medical institution established by the central government after the founding of the People's Republic of China to promote employment for visually impaired individuals, it is affiliated with the China Disabled Persons' Federation. The hospital is a tertiary TCM hospital registered with the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a designated hospital for basic medical insurance in Beijing.
By fully leveraging the strengths of both sighted and blind practitioners, the hospital has established a “one diagnosis and multiple therapies” model, and created distinct specialized departments centered around traditional Chinese medical Tui Na, supplemented by acupuncture and moxibustion, rehabilitation, traditional Chinese medicine, etc. The hospital has consistently optimized its disease structure by concentrating on key disease types, resulting in a variety of dominant disease types.
Guided by a patient-centered approach, the hospital's nursing team has consistently prioritized the development of basic skills of clinical nursing techniques, emphasized teaching, improved quality, and promoted development. Additionally, a TCM nursing outpatient service has been established to promote patient health through TCM nursing techniques such as scraping, cupping, and governor vessel moxibustion. A series of measures for humanistic nursing care have been implemented to enhance the warmth and depth of care, create a comfortable and warm environment for patients, and actively promote TCM nursing culture.
The hospital integrates a “patient-centered approach” throughout all diagnosis and treatment processes, providing patients with a “one-stop” convenient medical experience and high-quality, efficient diagnosis and treatment services. This further enhances patients’ sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security in seeking medical treatment, and makes patients’ medical treatment more comfortable.
